The Building and Grounds Committee helps to fulfill the parish Mission through ministries of Service and Stewardship.
The concerns of this committee involve the physical conditions of parish property, its maintenance and upkeep.
This committee identifies and articulates the needs of the parish in this area and makes recommendations to the Parish Council.
Responsibilities:
- Periodically inspect all parish properties and recommends
priorities of needed repairs, remodeling, and new construction.
- Evaluate current needs with regard to parish properties, and
plans for future requirements.
- Write necessary specifications for desired repairs and has
several contractors submit firm quotations.
- Study bids and make recommendations to the parish council
through the finance committee.
- When possible recruit parishioners who will donate their time
and talent to handle necessary work.
- Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and qualified
maintenance services.
- Prepare guidelines concerning the use of parish facilities.
- Recommend policies regarding safety (ice and snow removal, fire
hazards, playground conditions, handicapped accessibility, etc.) and
security.
- Inspect regularly for hazards.
- Study parish needs for heat, lighting, and air-conditioning with
the aim of conserving energy.
- Assure adequate parking facilities and traffic handling.
- Maintain regular visual inspection of buildings and properties.
- Make certain rental or leasing of parish buildings complies with
the laws of the state and archdiocesan policies.
- Maintain a complete set of architectural plans, drawings,
specifications, etc. which cover all existing buildings and
remodeling projects of the parish plant.
- Consult with the Archdiocesan Building Commission when
developing plans for an extensive remodeling or building new
facilities.
